Cancellation of The Pear Event on 25 June 2020 due to corona (Covid19) measures.
Following the government’s decision and the advice from the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and Environmental Protection (RIVM), that no major events are to take place until 1 September, we have decided to cancel the 10th edition of The Pear Event on 25 June. Aside from not being able to obtain the necessary permits, we would be unable to comply with the required 1.5 m distance between approximately 1,500 visitors and the exhibitors themselves. Moreover, we were expecting visitors from all over the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and beyond, which would pose a high risk of new spreading of the coronavirus.
We wanted to wait before sending out this message until after the press conference of 6 May because until a few days ago, we were hoping that rescheduling The Pear Event for the first half of August might be a realistic option. However, rescheduling after 1 September is not an option as the pear harvest will then be in full swing at our host company. In addition, The Pear Event would then take place too close to the planned Zeeland fruit-growing fair of 14 January 2021. As a result, our biennial Pear Event will be held in 2022 instead. With any luck, we will be able to make the 10th edition a grand celebration.
We look forward to welcoming you in 2022, as a participant or a visitor, in good health.
